Professional athletes (such as the NHL players) not only work hard on the court but outside of it as well. Such athletes spend more time training for their sport and working out their bodies in order to be physically fit for their tasks.

For professional athletes, working out is not some kind of fad but a prerequisite for their sport. They do abs workout and other rigorous exercise programs not to look good for the public that admires them but more to be really physically fit for the kind of sport that they do.

You just gotta have to give them a hats off for truly living a healthy lifestyle necessary for their craft. When they are on the field playing, you'd think that their bodies are made of stone and that they are sort of invincible. But all of that weren't achieved overnight. Remember that these guys are professionals and they started at a young age to achieve their physical prowess.
